Dr. Stephen Moe is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 30 years of experience providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults. Since 2006, he has maintained a private outpatient practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, the complex relationship between medical and psychiatric conditions, chronic pain, and work-related psychiatric concerns. He also has extensive experience evaluating and treating the psychological and cognitive effects of mild traumatic brain injuries.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Moe performs Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs) for personal injury and Workers' Compensation cases, drawing on decades of expertise at the intersection of psychiatry, medicine, and the legal system.
Prior to establishing his private practice, Dr. Moe served as an inpatient psychiatrist at Boulder Community Hospital from 1998 to 2006. Earlier in his career, he was a staff psychiatrist at the University of Colorado Student Health Center and provided outpatient psychiatric care through the Mental Health Center of Boulder County.
Dr. Moe completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he received specialized training in the practical applications of psychiatry within legal settings. He completed his final year of psychiatry residency at Yale University after beginning his residency training at the University of California, San Francisco (Fresno Branch). He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Valley Medical Center in Fresno, California.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stanford University.
Dr. Moe is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has maintained his certification through multiple recertifications. He previously held subspecialty board certification in Forensic Psychiatry and has maintained Colorado Workers' Compensation Level II Accreditation since 1997. He has also served as an instructor for Mental Impairment Rating reaccreditation seminars.
Dr. Moe is licensed to practice medicine in Colorado and Wyoming.
